L’Escargot

Rebrand and continued design direction for London’s oldest French restaurant and members club set in the heart of Soho.

We created a new collection of brand assets including a versatile visual language that reflects the restaurant’s history and ornate interiors.

The illustrative logo depicts the original founder Georges Gaudin riding a snail, symbolising the world famous Escargot and waving a flag that states the motto “Slow & Sure”. A plaster bust of Gaudin riding the snail is to this day on display outside the restaurant.

L’Escargot

L’Escargot Sur Mer.

During the pandemic the L’Escargot team adapted the business and headed to Aldeburgh on the Suffolk coast to open a new site. Initially intended to be a pop-up, its success resulted in it now being a permanent location and the first sister company in the L’Escargot franchise.

We humorously adapted the snail logo and placed Gaudin onto a scallop shell to pay homage to the area of Aldeburgh and celebrate the newly focused menu which is based on locally sourced fresh seafood.
